Born Shaelene Moss in the town of Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica, she showed an undeniable connection to music as a young child and was encouraged to hone her musical talents which included accreditation, some of which were distinctions by the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music for her achievements in classical piano and Silver and Merit Awards for competing and advancing to the finals in the Jamaican Festival for Arts- J.D.C.D. (Jamaica Cultural Development Commission). Throughout her early career, Shaelene maintained active membership in her local musical theater group (AYAEDEH) and in addition, competed in pageantry earning her the title Ms. Manchester High School. Recognized for her steadfast passion, she later pursued and was awarded a full music scholarship to Talladega College in Alabama further mastering her love for piano, singing, music performance and earned a B.A. in Music.
Shaelene debuts her new single titled, 'If you Say'- a soulful pop-ballad love song. Sweet cadences kindle memorable notes and spectacular writing skills. She is influenced by Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, all the way to Toni Braxton notes with rich dark smokey undertones to name a few. This Pop-R&B singer/songwriter’s resonant voice and diverse set of cross-genre musical influences, including but not limited to Dancehall and Reggae, bring a breath of fresh air to the industry.
From the latest dual singles, ‘Release You’, has a pop-like feel with underlying RnB inferences for which everyone can relate. The lyrics display the emotional hardship of yearning for someone yet knowing the drug-like effect and having to make the best decision to let go in order to save oneself.
In contrast, 'Stilleta Warriah’, inspired by female Co-Pastor, Dr. Marcia Bailey (R.D.C.I.), hits straight home. It aligns spiritual female empowerment with Reggae- dancehall. It signifies that women can be superheroes and even more so, spiritual superheroes. Women can create, lead, be mothers, wives, still face or stand up to any devil-like opposition, speak over it and change it, all while in stilettos. As Shaelene DJs, you feel the powerful lyrics cutting through the music to grab and ignite the fire inside of you.
Shaelene has graced stages with the likes of popular Jamaican artist- General Degree as a guest artist for the Tastee Music Competition. She has also opened up for a variety of artists including, soul singer- James Ingram, male rapper- Juvenile, R&B group- 112 and female rapper- Trina.
